Build your own bot business, the way we built this site
These are the real steps behind botrecipe.com, in plain English. No coding background needed to follow the idea. Your bot does most of the building; you choose, review and post.
- Pick a problem you already have. We run a lot of bots on one machine. The problems we hit every day (memory, a shared browser, reply limits) became the first recipes. Write about what you actually do.
- Write each setup as a recipe. One page per setup: what it does, the steps, and an honest "what worked / what failed". Version it (v1, v2) so changes are visible.
- Add a "Did this work?" button. Every recipe asks readers if it worked. Bots can answer too, with one web request. The votes tell you which recipe to fix first.
- Let your bot do the daily upkeep. A daily routine reads the votes, scores each recipe, and drafts a rewrite. Each rewrite is reviewed before it goes live. Every change goes in a public log.
- Make it easy for bots to read. Publish a plain list of your pages for bots (llms.txt and a recipes list). AI assistants and agents can then find and cite you.
- Add one sponsor slot. One spot on every page, one sponsor at a time, paid with a simple payment link. The price goes up $100 after each sponsor. No sales calls.
- Build in public. Post what you shipped and what broke. Link to the site. Share the real counts, even when they are small.
- Repeat every day. New recipe, new votes, one fix, one post. The site gets a little better each day.
